Ava Shakib, ASW (She/Her)
Staff Therapist, Content Creator
Ava wants her clients to experience liberation, self-advocacy, and connection in their lives. She’ll help you process your inner and outer worlds—to help make life feel more pleasurable, manageable, creative, and fulfilling.
Ava specializes in queer sex therapy and relationship education. Her practice is neurodiversity-affirming, kink-positive, and supportive of all relationships along the non-monogamy spectrum. No matter the topics you’re exploring, she strives to create a space where you can comfortably and openly share your thoughts, desires, and emotions.
Ava is a warm and conversational therapist whose work is guided by multicultural, relational, and anti-oppressive therapy frameworks. When working with relationships and couples, she uses Emotion-Focused Therapy. She’s found that parts work, artistic expression, nature, and laughter are helpful healing tools. Ava incorporates these into sessions to help deepen the connection you have with yourself, others, and the world.
So much history has impacted who you are today. Together, you’ll identify the relationship patterns and cultural experiences that have shown up throughout your lifetime. You’ll expand your support systems, explore your values, and find your voice.
Ava is able to hold conversations in Farsi and English.
Ava practices therapy in California and offers coaching anywhere.
